By Jessica Fontenot
Austin designer and artist Jessica Fontenot is best known for her sketch-like watercolor illustrations of architecture and industrial trucks. She considers her work to be somewhere in between graphic design and art, often mixing the two to tell a bigger story. The architecture of buildings has always been of interest to Fontenot. From April of 2016 to April of 2017, Fontenot drew 365 buildings in 365 days as a personal challenge and drawing exercise. The project, part of which was exhibited in a collection titled “One Year of Buildings” last May, reflects her fascination with the structural elements and composition of buildings. Here, a Fontenot illustration of the historic Alamo building, in San Antonio.
